Inspired by my essay exploring the ancient Greek Agora—the public square where citizens gathered to exchange ideas, question assumptions, and practice democracy—this journal honors those who understand that healthy communities are cultivated through thoughtful attention, honest dialogue, and shared responsibility.
The engraved artwork portrays the Steward as one who nurtures both people and place. An olive branch symbolizes peace, a flowing fountain reflects the continual renewal of ideas, children represent the future entrusted to every generation, while hands repairing worn stone remind us that democracy, like any living community, requires continual care rather than passive admiration.
