Wanderlust: A Journey in Light & Shadow — The Clara Vance Field Journal

Some books tell a story.

Others feel like something discovered.

Wanderlust is the latter.

Presented as the recovered travel journal of the fictional explorer Clara Vance, this illustrated scrapbook follows a quiet journey that begins in a remote monastery and slowly unfolds into something far stranger.

What begins as a simple study of light and shadow through ancient stone windows becomes a path through hidden gardens, strange geometries, and forgotten mechanisms that seem to respond to the movement of the sun itself.

Along the way, Clara records her observations:

The angle of a shadow that shouldn’t exist.

A garden that behaves like a map.

A key shaped like a sundial.

A library that hums as though it remembers something long forgotten.

And eventually…

a doorway.

From that moment forward the journal becomes less a travel log and more a record of discovery — of a city that vibrates like an instrument, of light that carries memory, and of a network of stars waiting to be reconnected.

Is it science fiction?

A dream?

A metaphor for inner worlds?

Perhaps all three.

This small photo book blends vintage scrapbook aesthetics with surreal imagery and reflective text to create something closer to an artifact of imagination than a traditional storybook.

It was created as an experiment in visual storytelling and curiosity — inspired by ideas about consciousness, light, geometry, and the possibility that the universe may hold more dimensions than the three we see.

It is not meant to explain anything.

It is meant to spark wonder.

Flip through it slowly, leave it on a coffee table, or gift it to someone who enjoys strange little journeys into the unknown.

Sometimes imagination is the beginning of discovery.
