I have been drawing interconnected wavy lines ever since I began to write my story Sapience: The Moment Is Now (Amazon, 4/24/24), which I began writing in 2012. At times, I felt like a character from Close Encounters of the Third Kind when people started randomly drawing Devil’s Tower though never having been there or knowing about it. At first, I thought it might be a Resilience Net, but then I read about Indra’s Net.
Indra’s Net is a foundational concept of Vedic cosmology, which symbolizes the universe as a web of connections and inter-dependencies among all its members. Every member within this web is both a manifestation of the whole and inseparable from the whole.
From Wikipedia: Indra's net (also called Indra's jewels or Indra's pearls, Sanskrit Indrajāla) is a metaphor used to illustrate the concepts of Śūnyatā (emptiness),[2]pratītyasamutpāda (dependent origination),[3] and interpenetration[4] or "coalescence" in Buddhist philosophy.

We Are Indra’s Jewels
I have come to understand from the angle with which I write my story that we grow these jewels of Indra’s Net by coming together in reciprocal collaborative mutually respectful relationships and work.
It sounds so easy, but let me assure you, it is not. Especially when circumstances become difficult and onerous, which transformational change requires. One can also add such change it formidable and arduous, requiring the ability to seek, accept, and digest Truth about oneself that one would much rather remain ignorant about. But true transformation requires both sides of one’s self being seen, accepted, and reunited. Without this Alchemical Process, one remains stunted, immature, rigid, and increasingly out of touch with reality inside and out.
Most often, the offer to step into Transformational change comes when the tide turns in one’s life where you find yourself standing all alone. That is where I found myself seven years ago. Most parts of my Indra’s Net is sadly broken and missing critical partners. I found solace listing a few people and places back then who inspired me. But now, I cannot say I am in touch with anyone listed below, and I have increasingly found it easier to spend time in nature and with just a few good friends whom I can see physically. The Internet is highly over rated and instead of bringing us together, it has dulled and numbed our ability to truly be present for others (see my Colosseum of Power on my home page for more about how billionaires are destroying our sense of community, country, and civilization).
And, remember, each of us weaves a part of Indra’s Net. Each and every living soul on planet Earth is a jewel. What does your part look like?
Ego Power or Power of Self Awareness
Two blogs I wrote that feel like mirrors to each other and extremely important to my inner Indra’s Net include:
And Now…
Fascinating
I have been wondering how visitors have been finding my page since I removed it from my menu. So, I Googled Jewels of Indra’s Net, and low and behold that image featured in the AI Overview is mine! I drew it 7 years ago in my work about the Divine Dodo. It is a mini series about dealing with overwhelming grief and loss. I have made the first part of the Divine Dodo into a graphic novel, which you can see on my home page titled Girl With Dragon. I am amazed my small effort to understand my fate and circumstances has ended up in this brief overview. Goes to show, you just never know how what you are doing ripples through time.

This exact image comes from a blog I wrote some years back as seen here:
The group I refer to in this piece no longer appears to be operating. I got disillusioned with it not long after writing this piece and lost contact with everyone from it. Perhaps the jewels do not have to be stationary, fixed things, but are rather fluid, flowing, changing things bringing us and taking from us what we need for growth and transformation, if we choose it. Funny how these things happen, especially over time, and taking time for reflection.
